During my senior year at Indiana University, I was placed with Terre Haute, IN’s Sustainability Commission and urban planner to assist with the community’s climate resilience plan, Climate Ready Terre Haute. This technical assistance program stewarded by IU’s Environmental Resilience Institute, introduced an undergraduate fellow to the plan-making process with assistance from a graduate-level mentor and a structured timeline. In my role with Terre Haute I wrote almost the entirety of the final deliverable and was a key organizer of two community engagement events, both of which had over 50 participants and provided instrumental feedback and vision for the final plan.
